Labor Day is Monday, September 1st. Town
offices will be closed and the Council meeting normally
scheduled for the 1st has been moved to Tuesday,
September 2nd, 7 pm Town Hall. Garbage and
recycling pick up will be on normal schedule. posted

NEW The Planning and Engineering Committee
met on Aug. 11th and requested business owners who place
advertising on the State and Town road right of ways to
voluntarily comply with the Town regulations against
such signs. posted

NEW All Knightdale residents will receive a short
survey in their mail next month. Town Council
wants to know what you think are the top priorities for
recreational facilities, recreational programs,
transportation improvements and quality of life issues.

Knightdale
Public Safety celebrated National Night Out on Tuesday,
August 5th in the Parkside Subdivision. Thanks to
the sponsor, Target of Knightdale, residents enjoyed hot
dogs and drinks while getting to know members of the
Public Safety Department. There was even face
painting and prizes for the kids. National Night
Out is a nationwide celebration sponsored by the
National Association of Community Watch aimed at
reducing crime in neighborhoods. Mingo Creek
Subdivision will celebrate Night Out on Saturday the

Wake County Commissioners unanimously
approved Knightdale's request to exercise
extraterritorial zoning in two large areas, one to the
north of Town and one to the south. Together, the
areas encompass more than 4,400 acres. Property in
this area is not within the city limits, but will fall
under Knightdale's land use regulations. You can

The intersection of Steamboat St. and Newport
Commons Drive (private) has been closed to through
traffic. A mountable curb and pavers will replace
the asphalt, and emergency response vehicles will be the
only traffic permitted through the connection. posted

The Town Council recently voted to request that the NC
Department of Transportation prioritize the Hodge Rd. to
Anderson Point Park phase of Mingo Creek Greenway
project in the Transportation Improvement Plan.
The City of Raleigh has eased outdoor water use
restrictions. Sprinkler irrigation is now permitted
twice a week. Even numbered addresses can irrigate
Wednesday and Sunday, while odd numbered addresses can
irrigate Tuesday and Saturday. The same schedule holds
true for hose end sprinklers. Hand held hoses can be
used for watering every day. Car washing is permitted
on the weekends.
